Build-a-Home
by Silon, 2005/09/24

Build a Home dreams dominated the landscape in SW Allegria Isle for much of 2004-2005. With so many different versions and flavors, one can only speculate who actually started the trend but love em or hate em, they are a Furcadian phenomenon. The notion of being able to work on a dream together hasn't excaped the imagination of Dragon's Eye Productions, and perhaps this sort of thing will become possible for all weavers sometime in the future. In the meantime, Silon has donated his BAH dream into the public domain and we share it here as an example of how they work.

Landora's Quest I
by Stevie (fire elf), 2005/04/26

A platform type quest with graphics and sound like you would expect in such a game. Furcadia is well-suited for just this sort of game, and Stevie (fire elf) keeps improving his skills as a quest maker.

MSQ5
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2005/07/29

Master Socket's Tower - chapter 5 in the quest series! Almost a year since MSQ4, I worked on a new quest. It began as a platform-type game and grew into a quest to climb the tower. This one would be all puzzles with no explanations or help and no apologies for a lack of plot. I decided to call it MS5 and let the tower belong to our villan. The name recognition helped garner a good number of visitors and MS quest fans who weren't the least bit disappointed. The dream can easily be loaded sans patch - the patch additions were done later and mostly for fun. Over time about 25% of visitors stick around to complete the quest and many replay it. My only regret is that the design is very limited and didn't leave much room for Arinos to improve the look and feel of the game.

Do battle, repair the ship, trade goods and keep all systems going while the clock runs. This dream shows how effective sims can be using variable DS. We also appreciate the attention to details such as the skin, graphics and appropriate use of authenticate sound effects.

3rd Place - Summer Dream Contest 2004

Furbert
by Siberian Ice, 2004/10/05

2003-04 was a period where many old arcade games found their way into Furcadia as Dragonspeak became more sophisticated. Carrie O'Kaye did the first version of Qbert in her Leisure Suit Larry dream, and here Siberian Ice has done a more authentic port of the game as a stand-alone dream. Note the AI used to chase your character.

This one is unique in that it includes an easy-to-use stand alone bot which announces who is "it" at any given time.

Hogsmeade
by Yellow-White Rose, 2004/04/09

This is an RP dream which reminds one a bit of Harry Potter, right down to the train that drops you off at the entrance. Colorful patching and a clean layout make this a fun place to play with friends, and its somewhat representative of the wave of Harry Potter style dreams that are often loaded on the AI map.

Lost Lenore
by Indigo Nightfall, 2004/10/30

2004 Wolf Howl honorable mention. This dream is packed with eye candy graphics, mreowing black cats, kites, balloons, and a quest to give the player lots to do.

Mancala
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/12/24

I'd been wanting to do a Mancala game for Furcadia for a long time. The introduction of variables made it a realistic goal. Prior to the new ds, one would have had to make if/then scenarios for every possible number combination in each position on the board. This really isn't intended as a public dream, though there are some protective routines built into the code to prevent someone from spoiling a game. It's mainly a way for two friends to spend a quiet time together playing a simple but fun game. Arinos cooked up the African look and I contributed the original Jungle Drums midi file.

Moanful Village
by Siberian Ice, 2004/10/26

Quest, 3d Place, 2004 Wolfhowl Dream Contest. Siberian Ice writes: Each autumn on All Hallows Eve, the villagers of Moanful Creek perform a ritual relighting of the Zoloris Flame... A magical flame that has been protecting the village from evil for more years then history can recall... However, this year the villagers are frightened, hiding behind locked doors, for the Guardian of the Sacred Source has gone missing..! Without a guardian or the Sacred Source, the Zoloris Flame can not be lit and it's magical powers will die... and evil will return to run amok in Moanful Creek...

MSQ4
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2004/09/06

Broken Dreams - Ch. 4 in the Master Socket series! Arinos and I took a year off from Master Socket dreams to pursue other interests. I started toying with quest ideas and soon we were off and running on another MS quest. Arinos suggested the scene on Allegria Island with the broken dream portals and we decided to use that as the basis for the quest I'd already started. The bit in the cemetary where you dig up a word was inspired by a very old dream by Rally where he wrote the name of the dream in the sand using those same floor tiles. This dream has a few puzzles that are really too hard, so it was less popular by design as fewer furres completed it. Carrie O'Kaye suggested a tweak to the "endless hall" puzzle to make it easier but the tweak stopped working when DS line 5:1000 stopped working in Furcadia. That same line creates a fall the full length of the map, a cool visual when the ds line is working.

Graphite writes: "In all the years you've been trick-or-treating, you've never had a haul quite this bad. So as you step into the final house on your route, you vow to yourself that you won't be leaving without some candy..."

The dream is a quest for 9 puzzle pieces and includes a number of games and "wandering Larry," an NPC who moves around the dream map at will. The Larry figure was modeled in 3D Max.

Lines
by Mikinay, 2003/05/15

This dream is most unique and novel in it use of black and white items and furres turned stick people. Its wonderful and even funny to see what its like to live inside a stark cartoon.

Mario fans will enjoy this quest. Nice graphics and game play.

MicroWorlds
by Kell Bengal, 2003/11/09

Kell writes: Go nuts in the city - Walking on or into things will damage most structures. Dragon breath will have a similar effect. Megama vs. King Superoid? I will not be held responsible for cheesy sound effects, thin plot or bad dubbing.

Ms. PacMan
by Carrie O'Kaye, 2003/09/14

Carrie O'Kaye is a true Furcadia veteran, having been here in the early days and working on the Challenges map. Carrie's early innovations include the notion of surrounding rooms with black tiles to as to appear as an inside view. After a hiatus, she returned to Furcadia in 2002 and began innovating anew, introducing intelligent NPCs, 3D rendered graphics, and accurate remakes of classic arcade games. This version of PacMan features original game sounds and graphics.

MSQ1
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/06/23

The Journey Begins - Master Socket Ch.1. Back in the summer of 03, I wanted to create a quest that was self-running and which required no live assistance, much like the adventure games of old. The only real nemesis in Furcadia was Master Socket, a not-so-mythical female mouse whom Felorin ofted cited as being behind much of the server troubles in Furcadia. I decided to create the quest and reveal to winners that they could type "Look Master Socket" on any map and they would find her! (In those days, typing that did show a mouse portrait and the furre name.) I built the quest and Arinos volunteered to spruce it up a bit, adding some scaping to make it look nice. Thus our long-running quest series was born, and it has been very popular with furres over the past two years. We are humbly grateful for the fan following the dreams have produced.

MSQ2
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/07/07

The Search for Master Socket Ch. 2 in the series. The first Master Socket was very popular and players completed it asking for more. Arinos and I set out to work on a sequel and a month later we produced quest II. We wanted to include some humor in the dream and added the then Beekins Help Desk in New Haven to the mix, along with simulated lag! We were still very much against heavy patching but did add a small patch in order to let the player see Master Socket in the boat ride game.

MSQ3
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/07/21

The Final Showdown. Ch. 3 in the Master Socket Series. MS II was even more popular than the first quest and we took advantage of summer to create another sequel. The patch grew a bit because I'd seen some 3D objects Graphite built and I wanted to use them to create a 3D maze. Arinos built the maze and her scaping in this dream really becomes prominent. I love the little town where the quest starts :) Carrie O'Kaye tweaked the final puzzle and made it easier to play. We fully expected this to be the last MS dream but left the option open by not having the villan captured.

Puzzle Mansion
by Graphite, 2003/10/23

WolfHowl 2003 Dream Contest Winner

SongHigh Fair
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/03/14

This is a game dream, set somewhere in the city of Songhigh in the county of Malcom. There is no patch other than the two midi files included. As usual with our creations, this one is "load-and-go" - everything should run all by itself. The dream owner can move inside the gates and f3 in the right-hand ticket booth to lock the dream for parties.

Siberian Ice
by Siberian Ice, 2003/04/04

This dream took 3rd Place in the Furcadia Quest Dream Contest, 2003. It can be played singly or as a group. Good plot, clever puzzles and a well-crafted design.

Siberian Summer
by Siberian Ice, 2003/07/27

2003 Summer dream contest winner, 3rd place

Sokoban
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/11/02

The crate-pushing puzzle in Master Socket Quest II was popular, so I decided to craft a dream of Sokoban. This one features progressively more difficult Sokoban puzzles along with places for visitors to watch and chat areas. The only patch is a crate!

Sports Car
by Kell Bengal, 2003/03/19

Kell borrowed the sports car from Honcho's Furtropolis patch and made it drivable with this DS. The result led to a number of innovative drivng dreams by various furres.

Tag World
by Simon Potter/Arinos, 2003/04/06

This dream is a simple map for playing group tag. There is no patch and nothing to set up, just load and go! To play tag, simply walk through one of the gates. A circle will appear under your feet to show you are "it." To tag someone, bump into them. Someone bumping into you will have no effect (unless they are "it" of course!) More than one player can be "it" in the game and anyone entering the game begins as a chaser. The center and border areas around the field are for sitting and watching or chatting: chasers will lose their circle of light when they exit the playing field.

Train
by Carrie O'Kaye, 2003/06/06

This map is merely a demonstration of Carrie's free-moving train. Each move of the train is not DSed, rather, it uses variables and moves in one direction until a floor tile change tells it to turn. This was something of a logical progression from Carrie's first work with wandering NPCs in the Leisure Suit Larry dream.

Werewolf Fright
by Desparla/Prideth, 2003/10/27

One of the two Wolf Howl 2003 Grand Prize winners. The dream features an esquisite quest, superb animations (don't miss the carriage, the roaming equine, or the magic door!) Sadly, it was perhaps Desparla's last complete work. She passed away at age 16 in March, 2004. She was working on a Spring contest dream but no remenants of it can be found. I asked Prideth to donate this dream to the archives as a memorial to Desparla. Prideth readily concented but was unable to locate a copy of the dream. In a last attempt to locate the dream, we asked Dragon's Eye Productions to check the server but alas, it was not there either. I contacted the Beekin Scribes and it was Cameo who miraculously found a copy of the dream in the Scribe's email account in the "sent" folder. It is respectfully placed in the archives as both an example of exemplary dream making and as a memorial tribute to Desparla, aka Rachel Bonzo, who loved Furcadia and gave us much enjoyment through her dreams and positive personality.

Great Castle
by Gin Blossom, 2003/03/02

While sitting in Acropolis one evening I looked up to see Gin Blossom passing by. She paused and spoke and the topic of default patch dreams came up. She generously donated her Great Castle dream to the archives. It is a masterwork of design using the standard Furcadia patch. There are many secrets in the dream which can only be found by a careful reading of the DS file. Find a red tassled pillow and bump into a lampstand to create a red master key. This key allows access to hidden areas including a vault.

Battlebots
by Zephyr, 2001/12/30

Battlebots is a game for 2-8 players competing in teams. The entry is an arena where spectators can watch the action. Teams que up outside the doors of one of two ships. Your team will automatically be transported inside. There are 4 positions to be played: Captain, Navigator, Gunner, and Engineer. The navigator moves the ship left/right and up/down the grid. The gunner fires shots at the opposing ship when your ship is facing the enemy. The engineer drops the repair tool on damaged parts of the ship, shown in a diagram on the floor. Red flashes indicate hits. The Captain coordinates the activity. The game continues until one ship is completely disables/destroyed. This dream predates variables in DS and was created at a time when there was a 3000 line limit on DS.

This patch and dream won second place in the Spring Festival Dream Contest held in 2002. It features many games, such as hangfurre, Dunk-a-Furre, a horse ride, a hedge maze, an obstacle course (with a princess' kiss when completed), Wack-a-Jester, Cream pie toss, and more! Items include a swing hanging from a tree, new hedge objects, and chest slot dispensers. Misaluv drew most of these graphics.

Technical excellence in both patching and Dragonspeak, this dream lets us wander around a pirate's galleon firing cannons. Run into the cannon balls, take one, then bump the cannon. Pick up a lit candle and bump the cannon again to fire. With flags waving and sharks circling, Gin Blossom has given RPers with an interest in the high seas a real treat.

Lady Rosalind's Castle
by Lady Rosalind, 2000-09-04

Classic castle dream for RP

Maho City
by Umi, 2000/09/05

Interactive city in the trees w/jobs and shops. Umi writes: Based off a city in a story I've been writing, Maho City is a city hidden in the treetops. It really is huge, containg several houses of various sizes, a number of shops, a theater, a restaurant, a shrine, and much more. In order to buy from the shops, you must obtain a bag of money by dragging barrels to the boats at the dock. Then put the bag down on the colored square at the shop to buy something.

Nightflies
by Lady Rosalind, 2004-02-28

From Lady Rosalind - "The Nightflies was a guild founded by we Water City freeks back in early 2000. It was around for maybe ... nine months or so. There are a lot of inside jokes to that dream, such as the basement in one of the houses with bouncy padded walls, and another with a shrine, and then the secret location of Bob Street. A small remembrance shrine in honor of Penila is at the starting point of the dream, and a secret one to Aimee/Winter is accessed by those few who knew how. Both Penila and Aimee have passed away in real life, and they were greatly loved by us all. The dream itself I really wouldn't consider one of my best -- it was one of my very few village ones -- but it was a very personal and intimate one for a group of friends who went through a great deal of personal strife, accomplishments, and joys together. The ghosts of countless laughs, smiles and tears lurk within each building and walking down every street."

Phouka's Fancies
by Phouka, 2000-02-23

Some dreams are just fun to explore and this one has a great deal to see and do. There's a maze or two and some games scattered about, hidden rooms and islands, and more. Bump the clock tower.

Sinalta
by Maiko Ekisha, 2000/06/25

Sequel to Atlantis, with a working lighthouse. Maiko Ekisha is credited with creating Atlantis, and the readme file with this dream is apparently by the same author, though Klass is given some credit in the making of the first one and his guild, "Water City" is mentioned in this one as well. This dream features a number of special things including a working lighthouse and some RP elements which are DSed into the dream.

Snow Town
by Umi, 2000/12/20

Lovely winter patched town/perspective tricks. Umi writes: This is a simple, peaceful town with several houses, shops (bump the window that the path leads up to, or the table in front of the item you want), a chapel, stables, a restaurant (tables are set when you bump them), a park, and a skating pond. The patch included is the floors from Talzhemir's christmas patch with ice added in place of water. As this is a winter dream not intended for any holiday, there is no object patch, no christmas trees here.

Waterfall
by Purrly, 2000/08/18

Classic scaping in the default patch. Long-time Furcadia player Purrly has done some wonderful patched dreams: she'd often load them in northeast Alegria Isle. Its a treasure to find this, one of her older default patch works. Take your time and stroll, find your way to the waterfall and ride it down with an F3.

Lost Lake (original dream)
by Drax, 1999/05/21

This is the original Lost Lake dream, created by Drax for Alexsi. According to her: "Drax heard me wishing for a dream. He said to tell him what I wanted and he would make it for me, and so he did." One thing to note in this dream is the old pillow/bed swap. In old Furcadia you could only sit with a pillow. Dream makers used a trick of placing a pillow to force the avatar to sit, and then swapping the pillow for a bed.

Pillow Polly
by Wooly the Racoon, 1999/10/24

Wooly the Racoon was a favorite among all who knew him. "Pet my belly, its good luck!" was his oft heard line, a jovial character who always had a good word for everyone he met. Wooly showed me this dream years back and started to explain the rules and then decided it was too difficult. Perhaps a study of the DS will yield those?

Pookie Catch
by Wildfox & Shadraw, 2003/05/20

About the time of the change from "Old Furcadia" a dream contest was held and this dream was one of the winners. Up to 4 players take a special object and fight over the Pookie. The pookie will follow whomever runs across it and it can be taken from someone already leading it to their goal. Wildfox created the game and Shadraw worked the DS which was pretty amazing for its time.

Sanctuary Carnival
by Emerald Flame, 1998

In 1998 the Circle held its first Carnival which became a widely attended annual event in Furcadia. This is the original carnival dream from the first event. Some of the old DS runs very fast now. Games required a furre to be inside the ticket booth of each one to start the game.

Theme Park
by Raen Ando, 1999/10/05

Contest Winner for the Dream Weavers Dream Making Dream Fall 1999. Rides and games were popular even in 1999, the same year the Circle had their first carnival. This park features some classic Furcadia fun like a water slide, a merry-go-round, and a slot machine that pays off in prizes.

Pookie Hunt
by Nikodemus, 1998/04/19

From the furre who created the "thousands of walls" patch, a default patch game dream from the second full year of Furcadia. Find the 20 hidden pookies and return them to base. Take a friend along, some puzzles require two furres to solve.

Rally's Place
by Gally, 1998/04/20

This clever old dream displays a number of interesting old techniques, including a rather elaborate key system lock. You will have to study the DS to learn all the secrets. Pick up a pookie and head for the cabana and walk across all the floors until they turn to floor 151. Then step on location 46,35 (upper right floor in the cabana.) If you hear a fanfare, you were successful. Return to the bedroom where you found the pookie and bump the wall between the two beds. Now move around the lower bed and you should find a red key. This key is the dream controller. Move to the outhouse behind the house and enter the left stall. You will teleport to the next section of the dream. I'll leave it to you to study the DS and discover the other secrets.

Sanctuary
by Emerald Flame, 2003/06/09

The dream of the Circle, this original map is a walk back in time to the very foundation of one of Furcadia's most influential guilds. The design is intended to represent the idea of moving up a hill. The poles in the water were placed there to give a more 3D appearance. The modern version of the dream retains the same basic design.

Stately Manor

Typical user home dream with secrets

Xaa's Village
by Xaa, 1998

Veteran players will remember Xaa and his infamous village. Newer players may look at the dream and quickly turn up their noses but to do so is to miss a slice of history. Here players gathered to socialize or spar: the dream featured perhaps the first sparring arena seen in Furcadia.

Beginner Map
by Sidereal, 1997/05/06

Back in 1997 Sidereal emailed Felorin with an idea for a map where new furres would land on their first visit to Furcadia. It was to be a training map to learn the basics of movement and actions before exploring the rest of Furcadia. This map was never used, but the concept was the predecessor to the modern Welcomer map used in the game today.

Meditation Dream
by Xaa, 1998/01/18

This dream was based on the map called "The Old Tower" which was a sample map that came with Edit.exe, the original dream editing software for Furcadia. Xaa made the tower climbable and added a game or two on another island. This is vintage Furcadia with clever Dragonspeak.

Ostrix Race
by Sylia, 1997/06/02

Circa 1997, the four Ostrix are named Felorin's Fortune, Talzhemir's Triumph, Sylia's Sonic Boom, Lupa's Lightning, Carrie's O'Kaye's Bloody Mad Evil Smelly Bird. The race has a rather surprising ending. Throw the switch to start the race. Bump the sign to reset it.

The Arena
by Sidereal, 2004/02/24

Circa March 1997, Sidereal donated both the original dream and a reworked version for inclusion in this archive along with the original web page about the dream. The dream has an automated sparring pit done entirely in DS, no bot needed, and is a superb example of the more sophisticated scripting being done at the time.
